Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ali Al-Qarawi, head of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Holy Shrine, told the Karbala Agency that the encyclopedia represents a major national achievement. The project was carried out under the supervision of the Shrine’s General Secretariat, with the participation of affiliated institutions and researchers from areas affected by terrorism.
Al-Qarawi said the participation of researchers from Iraq’s diverse sects and schools of thought highlights the project’s national significance and presents a unified account of the crimes committed against the country.
He noted that the encyclopedia examines the broader consequences of terrorism, including its effects on education, science, intellectual life, and psychological well-being, as well as Iraq’s geography, heritage, and civilization.
The project builds on earlier efforts by the Holy Shrine, including conferences on extremism and terrorism held in 2022 and 2024, as well as more than 15 workshops across several governorates examining the destruction caused by terrorist organizations.
Al-Qarawi said efforts will continue to distribute the encyclopedia to international institutions and research centers, with the aim of establishing it as a reference for documenting terrorist crimes and their impact on Iraq.
